In three games since moving to the point, Page has scored 27, 21 and, most recently, 23 points.
Page has scored 20 or more points in three consecutive games for the second time in his career and, in a Big 12 opener Wednesday night against Texas Tech, he teamed with Le'Bryan Nash (who matched a career-high with 21 points) to lift shorthanded OSU to a 67-59 victory.
Every person on both benches - and maybe every person in Gallagher-Iba Arena - knew Page was the Cowboy who would be taking game-deciding shots at the end. He made them anyway, scoring 16 of his team's last 17 points.
Page eluded a triangle-and-two pursuer to score 10 points in the last 2:40, including two critical 3-point baskets after Texas Tech had cut a 13-point deficit to two and three, respectively.
"He's a good ballplayer," Ford said. "He's an overachiever. He's a kid that understands how to score. I think our guys did a good job of screening for him tonight to get him open and he understands the game. He understands how to get his shots off."
Page wasn't a marked man in his first two seasons because he was playing alongside guards who drew more attention. But he was a marked man last season and Ford said he hopes Page learned from that experience.
"And he's got more offensive weapons hopefully around him," Ford said. "But he just understands the game. He has a great feel for the game and then we do a lot to try to get him shots, too."

It was about as close to a must-win game as a conference opener can be. OSU went 7-6 while playing (according to the RPI) the Big 12's toughest nonconference schedule. The Cowboys, in their quest to stay above .500, couldn't afford to lose at home to a Texas Tech team that was picked (along with Oklahoma) to finish last in the league's preseason poll.
Nash, voted the league's preseason freshman of the year, scored 16 points in the first 16 minutes to stake OSU to an 11-point halftime lead.
The Cowboys played almost an ideal first half, going 11-of-11 from the free throw line and committing zero turnovers to score their most points (40) in a first half since getting 41 in an NIT victory over Harvard last season.
The near-ideal first half was followed by a troublesome start to the second half.
Two OSU starting frontcourt players, Philip Jurick and Michael Cobbins, picked up two quick fouls each and both were on the bench with four fouls by the 16:56 mark of the half.
The Cowboys initially were able to hold serve without them, but the Red Raiders rallied to create suspense at the end.
Texas Tech dropped to 7-6 and lost for a ninth consecutive time in Stillwater despite a double-double (13 points, 13 rebounds) from freshman Jordan Tolbert.

Romney makes final pitch to Iowa caucus voters
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) ? Mitt Romney ? and his supporters ? are making his final pitch to Iowa voters and it's all about electability.
Romney's campaign was lining up representatives to speak for Romney at events on Monday, a day before the caucuses.
Aides say the representatives will focus on Romney's business credentials and urge Iowans to vote for him because Democrats have shown that they think the former Massachusetts governor would be the president's toughest opponent.
Romney himself was holding a series of rallies Monday in eastern Iowa, where he did well in the 2008 caucuses. Romney focused entirely on President Barack Obama at the first of those events and said the election was a battle for the "soul of America."

Antiques dealers to compete on PBS reality show (AP)
PASADENA, Calif. ? PBS is giving the genteel "Antiques Roadshow" a fierce partner with "Market Wars," an antiques-hunt reality competition show.
PBS announced Wednesday that the 20-episode series from the producers of "Antiques Roadshow" will send professional antiques dealers in a nationwide hunt for the best vintage bargain. The dealer whose item snares the biggest profit at auction wins.
The producers of "Market Wars" promise the show will expose the "real, rough and tumble competition" in the antiques marketplace. The series will begin next summer, teaming on Monday nights with "Antiques Roadshow." The debut date was not announced for "Market Wars," produced by public TV station WGBH Boston.
The two series make a good match but viewers need not worry that PBS will be overtaken by reality shows, PBS chief Paula Kerger told the Television Critics Association.

School performance may be linked to physical activity
ScienceDaily (Jan. 2, 2012) ? A systematic review of previous studies suggests that there may be a positive relationship between physical activity and the academic performance of children, according to a report in the January issue of Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, one of the JAMA/Archives journals.
Amika Singh, Ph.D., of the Vrije Universiteit University Medical Center, EMGO Institute for Health and Care Research, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and colleagues reviewed evidence about the relationship between physical activity and academic performance because of concerns that pressure to improve test scores may often mean more instructional time for classroom subjects with less time for physical activity.
The authors identified 10 observational and four interventional studies for review. Twelve of the studies were conducted in the United States, plus one in Canada and one in South Africa. Sample sizes ranged from 53 to about 12,000 participants between the ages of 6 years and 18 years. Follow-up varied from eight weeks to more than five years.
"According to the best-evidence synthesis, we found strong evidence of a significant positive relationship between physical activity and academic performance. The findings of one high-quality intervention study and one high-quality observational study suggest that being more physically active is positively related to improved academic performance in children," the authors comment.
Background information in the article suggests that exercise may help cognition by increasing blood and oxygen flow to the brain, increasing levels of norepinephrine and endorphins to decrease stress and improve mood, and increasing growth factors that help create new nerve cells and support synaptic plasticity.
Still, "relatively few studies of high methodological quality have explored the relationship between physical activity and academic performance," the authors conclude. No study in their systematic review used an objective measure of physical activity.
"More high-quality studies are needed on the dose-response relationship between physical activity and academic performance and on the explanatory mechanisms, using reliable and valid measurement instruments to assess this relationship accurately," the authors conclude.
