SkyFire Energy, a solar contractor based in Western Canada, is pleased to announce that they are expanding on their ability to harness Alberta?s world-class solar resource by merging with DayStar Renewable Energy from Edmonton. The two companies will operate together as SkyFire Energy. A second SkyFire Energy office has recently opened in Edmonton, joining the company?s head office in Calgary. The new office will be installing more than 200?kW of photovoltaic solar power during its first quarter of operation.
Since 2001, SkyFire Energy has designed and installed hundreds of residential and commercial grid-connected and off-grid solar power systems throughout Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. Among these projects is the largest photovoltaic system in Canada outside of Ontario, a 260 kW solar array located on the roof of the Okanagan College Jim Pattison Centre of Excellence in Penticton, BC.
DayStar Renewable Energy owner, Benn Kilburn is a certified solar photovoltaic system designer and installer whose ten years of experience brings a wealth of solar knowledge to SkyFire Energy?s team. He has been on the Board of the Solar Energy Society of Alberta since 2005, and has been involved in educating and informing the public about Alberta?s most abundant natural resource: the sun.
In the past decade, the cost of solar technology has decreased by nearly 75%. The technology needed to generate clean, 100% renewable electricity is now within budget for the average consumer. With offices in Calgary and Edmonton, SkyFire Energy is now even better positioned to install photovoltaic systems of varying sizes to residential and commercial customers across the province and Western Canada.
